Find Stone County Correctional Releases

To find someone released from Stone County Correctional Facility, first determine which custody stream applied. The Wiggins site holds local detainees and can also house people under state or federally sponsored authority. A name that leaves the local roster may reflect community release, a state transfer, or a federal handoff. Stone County Correctional Facility release records must therefore connect the local exit with its destination. County jail-docket entries confirm local release authority, while state and federal systems confirm custody that continues after the person leaves the building.

Stone Correctional Release Destinations

Stone County Correctional Facility is the regional correctional site at the address used by the Stone County roster. MDOC calls it a regional facility. The vendor labels it Stone County Detention Center. These labels describe overlapping operations, not separate jails. The sheriff manages day-to-day work, and MDOC has oversight for contracted state custody. Because several custody streams can share the location, the word “released” needs a destination.

A locally held person may go into the community after bond, a court order, time served, or sentence completion. Another person may move to an MDOC institution, another county, USMS control, BOP designation, or ICE custody. Only the first group is necessarily free from confinement. The sheriff's manner-of-release entry should name the authority, while a transfer record should identify the receiving custodian.

Confirm Stone Correctional Releases

For a very recent local event, open the official Stone County Sheriff page and follow Active Roster, then Recently Released. Confirm the “Released Last 72hrs” heading, `stoneMS` code, and Wiggins identity. The list is rolling. It shows name, gender, age, and an action link. The individual layout may show a photograph, booking number and date, arresting agency, charges, and “Schedule Release Date.” That scheduled value is not proof of departure.

  1. Compare the person against the released list, using more than the name.
  2. Record the date and time of the search because the display lasts only 72 hours.
  3. Call the facility when the result is urgent or conflicts with another source.
  4. Request the jail-docket entry, release warrant, or receiving officer's receipt for durable proof.
  5. If a transfer appears, search the receiving state or federal system for intake.
Important: A person who disappears from the active roster has not necessarily entered the community. Transfer must be ruled out.

The broader Stone County released inmate search explains how court, MDOC, VINE, BOP, and ICE records fit beside the county docket. The active roster remains a current-custody tool. It should not be presented as an archive of people already released.

Stone Correctional Release Records

Mississippi Code section 19-25-63 requires the sheriff's jail docket to record why and under what authority a person was confined, the length of imprisonment, how released or discharged, and the release warrant. For a penitentiary transfer, the docket keeps the receiving officer's receipt. This statutory split is the best local way to distinguish a community release from a state move.

Use the Stone County public-records request form and describe one booking episode. Supply full name, date of birth if known, approximate booking and release dates, booking number, and arresting agency. Ask for the docket entry, booking sheet, release or discharge authorization, bond papers where relevant, transfer receipt where relevant, and booking photograph as separate items. Request electronic files and a written estimate before chargeable work.

No local fixed copy-fee schedule was located. Mississippi law permits reasonable actual-cost fees and advance payment. If material is withheld, ask for a written denial that identifies the exemption and releases segregable nonexempt fields. Medical, juvenile, victim, and protected investigative details are not needed for a narrow release verification.

Stone Regional Custody History

The physical setting helps explain why a roster result can be misleading. A reported expansion in 2010 added 6,000 square feet and separate public and secure functions. A 2022 PREA audit and a March 2025 MDOC population report record different historical snapshots. Neither should be converted into a current capacity, population, or release rate.

The MDOC facility profile is the official state description of the Wiggins regional operation. Its relationship with the sheriff explains why a state prisoner can be housed at the same address as a locally booked detainee. It also explains why a state sentence must be followed through MDOC even when the county roster once displayed the person.

The MDOC statewide facilities directory provides a useful view of the receiving network.

The directory shows that the Stone site is one part of a larger correctional system, so a move between facilities cannot be treated as final discharge.

Stone Federal Release Handoffs

Stone County's regional facility has an intergovernmental agreement with the U.S. Marshals Service covering federal, BOP, and ICE detainees at stages that can include trial, sentence, designation, transport, immigration hearing, or deportation. The agreement limits release of those detainees to authorized federal officers or process. A local roster disappearance can therefore be a federal handoff rather than freedom.

Ask Stone County for its relinquishment or transfer entry. Then use the right destination. A sentenced federal prisoner is searched in the BOP Inmate Locator. Pretrial or transport custody may require the U.S. Marshals Service or the federal case docket. Immigration custody is checked with ICE by A-number and country of birth or by biographical fields. An ICE detainer requests notice and a short period for possible pickup, but it does not prove the pickup occurred. Confirm both Stone's exit and ICE intake.

Stone Correctional Court Records

The arresting agency and court stage direct the court search. Justice Court handles county misdemeanors, DUI matters, ordinances, and felony initial appearances. Stone felonies begin there, and a Circuit Court record does not exist until indictment. Wiggins Municipal Court handles city matters. Stone Circuit participates in Mississippi Electronic Courts for its covered records from 2008 forward.

A court disposition answers a different question from a jail release. It can show dismissal, plea, verdict, judgment, sentence, revocation, or completion. It does not replace the sheriff's timestamp and manner-of-release entry. Read both records together. If a court search is blank soon after release, check the lower court before concluding that no case exists.

Stone Correctional State Releases

An MDOC prisoner housed at Stone County Correctional Facility belongs in the statewide offender record. Search by MDOC number when it is known. Otherwise, compare name, date of birth, photograph, offense, conviction county, sentence data, location, and unit. The public field called Tentative Release Date is a calculation. It can change, and it does not confirm the hour or final form of actual release.

MDOC distinguishes earned release supervision, tentative release, and maximum release calculations. A record can name an ERS supervision unit as the location while showing a future tentative date because the person remains within MDOC jurisdiction. Parole also places a person outside a prison bed under conditions after Board action. For a disputed past release, request the time sheet, custody history, inactive master-file status, or discharge certificate from MDOC Records. The county sheriff should not be asked to interpret those state records.

MDOC says public-record requests must be in writing. Its Records office is at P.O. Box 24388, Jackson, MS 39225, with 601-933-2889 and MDOCRecordsDepartment@mdoc.state.ms.us listed as contacts. The phone and email can help identify the route, but they do not replace the written request requirement. MDOC also says release processing can take 30 to 45 days and requires a discharge certificate before release. Those facts make the final certificate more reliable than a former tentative date.

Search Stone Correctional Records

Use the person's full name and known location to begin, then verify the result with the custodian for the custody stream. A county release entry, receiving intake, court disposition, and final discharge record may each describe a different part of the same custody history.
